Tribute

Dana at Bite My Cookie closed both her cookie shop and her blog this week.

Dana is an incredible person who has many qualities I covet. She's extremely bright and talented. She is unapologetically blunt and speaks her mind. She's not afraid to follow her dreams. She's a ball of energy, a shooting star. She is incredibly loyal. If you're a member of her tribe, she'll stick up for you. She's constantly banging the drum for Rebecca at Girl's Gone Child. She's come to my defense before.

She is also an extremely talented writer. You ever read a book and think, "Damn. I wish I could write like that?" That's how I feel when I read one of her posts.

She has her own slang. Her own way of saying things. Her words are like a bout of marathon sex -- they leave you exhausted, fulfilled, yet wanting more.

Trying to describe her writing makes me realize just how bad of a writer I am.

If you're a literary agent or an editor and are currently slumming it by hanging out at my site, please do yourself a favor and read Dana's words. Dig through those archives. Read. Sign her or whatever the hell happens when someone gets a book deal. You won't regret it.

A lot of people are bemoaning the fact they won't be able to try her cookies. Not me. I've had her cookies and while they're some of the best I've ever had, I'll miss her words much more.

They're much tastier.
