Coming Attractions

Over the weekend, we saw Monsters Vs. Aliens (great movie -- very funny and it looked amazing!). While waiting for the movie to start, we were treated to THREE trailers for upcoming 3D animated flicks. Apparently, Hollywood has decided to stop producing two-dimensional animated flicks and horror movies.

We saw previews for Up, Ice Age: Dawn Of The Dinosaurs, and, the one we're most psyched about because it was once one of my daughter's favorite books, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

For those of you are unfamiliar with Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, it centers around Flint Blackwood, a failed inventor who stumbles upon a method for turning water into food.

For those of you who are familiar with Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, you may be wondering who in the hell Flint Blackwood is since there is absolutely no mention of him in the book.

What the hell?

Look. I realize Hollywood takes liberties with books. I know it's difficult turning a 20-page children's book into a 90-minute feature and it may be necessary to invent a few subplots or secondary characters. But you can't just toss in a lead character that didn't appear in the book.

It's going to end up being like Less Than Zero, where the only thing it has in common with the book is the title, isn't it?

And I can see the same thing happening to Where The Wild Things Are.

Either that or there's going to be one veeeeeeeeery long wild rumpus.
