Beating Bill Simmons 2009: Week Four

Cynical Dad NFL Power Index

Here are my top six teams in the NFL:
  1. Baltimore Ravens (3-0)
Did you know the Ravens are averaging over 34 points a game this season? Yes, I said Ravens.

  2. New Orleans Saints (3-0)
In last week's game against Buffalo, they showed they could win without Brees lighting it up.

  3. New York Jets (3-0)
They are only giving up 11 points a game, second only to Denver ridiculous 5.3 points per game.

  4. Indianapolis Colts (3-0)
Major statement in last week's thumping of the Cardinals.

  5. New York Giants (3-0)
Brandon Jacobs still hasn't had a 100-yard game this season and is only averaging 3.4 yards per carry.

  6. Minnesota Vikings (3-0)
Did you know that Brett Favre is playing against his former team this week? I just found out about it this evening!
Here are my picks for week four (home teams in CAPS, Bill's picks in red):

Lions (+10) over BEARS
Could the Lions win two games in a row? No, but they won't lose by ten, either.

Bengals (-6) over BROWNS
Cedric Benson should have a great game.

TEXANS (-9) over Raiders
This should be the week when Steve Slaton finally goes off.

Seahawks (+10.5) over COLTS
I think Julius Jones will keep the Seahawks close.

Titans (-3) over JAGUARS
The Titans have lost their three games by a total of 13 points. This is the week they get their act together.

Giants (-9) over CHIEFS
This is one of those games where you could add 10 to the line and I'd still give the points.

Ravens (+1.5) over PATRIOTS
Wish this was the MNF game.

Bucs (+7.5) over REDSKINS
No way Washington wins by a TD. Hell, they'll have trouble scoring a TD.

Bills (-1.5) over DOLPHINS
Dolphins will be lost without Pennington.

SAINTS (-7) over Jets
Why is this line so high? And better yet, why am I laying the points?

BRONCOS (+3) over Cowboys
The Cowboys looked impressive against the Panthers. But then again, everyone does.

NINERS (-9.5) over Rams
Another ugly game.

Chargers (+6.5) over STEELERS
I think San Diego wins this one outright.

Packers (+3.5) over VIKINGS
Wear your earplugs on Monday night if you don't want to hear the announces verbally fellating Favre all evening.

And good news, Carolina fans! Since the Panthers are on a bye this week, there's no way they can lose! Hurrah!

Last Week
