NFL: The No Follow League

Tonight, the NFL launches its annual hatred of the common man campaign. For the next seven weeks, the NFL will broadcast a game on its NFL Channel that only people that subscribe to the package will be able to watch.

Screw you, NFL!

Look, I realize that if you're a basic cable subscriber, you can't choose which NFL game you want to watch. You get the in-market games as well as the best match-ups of the week from CBS and FOX, and the national games from NBC and ESPN. But if there's an NFL game, you will be able to watch it or some other NFL game being played at the same time.

Unless the NFL Network is showing their game. They show their games on Thursday and Saturday nights when no other NFL games are being played.

So if you don't have the NFL Network? No soup for you, bitch.

While I admit tonight's match-up, Denver vs. Cleveland, isn't very appetizing, there are a few games on this upcoming schedule worth watching:

11.13.08 Jets at Patriots
11.20.08 Bengals at Steelers
11.27.08 Cardinals at Eagles
12.04.08 Raiders at Chargers
12.11.08 Saints at Bears
12.18.08 Colts at Jaguars
12.20.08 Ravens at Cowboys

Am I calling for a boycott? No. I can't quit the NFL. But I do think that the NFL should make concessions to cable customers and allow these games to be shown on basic cable.

Isn't some money better than no money? Yeah, I thought so. You know who'll be getting my money this year? The sports bar down the street.

Unless Obama can come to the rescue!

BTW, here's my pick for tonight's game: Broncos (+3) over Browns. All other picks will be posted this weekend.
