I feel kind of like a jerk for writing this post. But each week, more people tune in to my show and each week, I get questions from new people. For those of you who are new to my show, here are a few questions you might like answered:
Q: How does the show work?
A: First of all, you need to follow me on Twitter. For two hours every Tuesday night, I play songs/music videos. I post links on Twitter to videos on YouTube. You click the link, listen to the song, and close your window (or tab). Another song will be waiting for you on Twitter. I play as many requests as I can during the two hours. Every week, I tackle a different theme.
Q: How do I make a request?
A: You need to reply to one of my tweets. I only read replies (@CynicalDad) while I'm doing the show. Why? I receive a lot of messages during my show (during my Hair Band Ballads show, I received 163 messages), so I have to be able to view them all in one place in order to give myself time in between songs to track down the requests.
Q: Can I make an early request?
A: No. To give everyone the same chance to get their request played, I don't start taking requests until the show starts.
Q: Why didn't you play my song?
A: Probably one of four reasons:
- It didn't fit the theme. But if this is the case, you'll probably get a tweet from me.
- I already played that song or artist. But if this is the case, you'll probably get a tweet from me. Unless it's an Artist Spotlight night, I only play one song per artist.
- I ran out of time.
- I hate your song or the group you chose. But if this is the case, you'll probably get a tweet from me.
- The song has been played on three different shows and has since been retired from future shows. Here's a list:
